Turning 18 - a word from Linda & Greg

Eighteen years ago we ventured out on a whim, a dream no less to start a faith community that is now known as 'Edge Kingsland’, a Bohemian and eclectic group of people who were fascinated and intrigued with a verse from Johns revelation, ‘Worship God for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.’ This became a mantra in our hearts carrying us through some turbulent times, inspiring us with some greats moments of epiphany and experiential evolution around all things creative.

As we arrive at the significant milestone of 18 years the challenge is laid down for us to consider how as a church community we move into a new season of adult response-ability. What does this new age of consent mean for us and how do we reconsider our contribution to the well-being of this collective of amazing people. And as we become an adult church how will it change the nature of our Institutional humanity?

The Hebrew word for 'life’ is chai, which has a numerical value of 18 and provoked a custom in Jewish folk law of giving donations and monetary gifts in multiples of 18 as an expression of blessing for long life. Maybe this is as good a time as any to consider how we can extravagantly contribute to the life flow of our community going forward.

The future of our boutique faith family is reliant on the innovative and inventive benefaction of its people, so in the words of the Hebrew writers..

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."

This coming weekend is an opportunity to celebrate so come and join us on Sunday as we propose a toast to long life and good fortune.
