Home in the Story – III

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21, NIV)

In the readings this week we will see this proverb very much played out.  Time and time again through the story of Joseph we see (crooked) human plans enacted that result in God’s purpose prevailing.  Watch for these twists as you read.

As you do, keep in mind the story as it is emerging: The world was perfect, and then in chaos through human action, so God began his restoration through Abraham and Sarah and promised to make their family a great nation so they might bless the world.  But how would they get through the events of life that threatened this future?

Only by the grace of God and the prevailing of his purposes…
