Interesting that the 1 year anniversary of the fatal Christchurch earthquake should coincide with the start of Lent; an opportunity to pull us out of our own temporal struggles to reflect on a larger story facing that city and the kiwis living there.
Listening to interviews with some Christchurch locals this morning it was apparent that the loss is still raw (understandably!) and the journey of physical, emotional and psychological restoration continues, a course that cannot be plotted on a nice tidy linear path.
Those living their have lost more than we can imagine or fully comprehend but those directly impacted still carry the touch of hope and resolve to continue moving forward with the promise of the future in their hearts.
We pray for you Christchurch, for peace in your soul and the road ahead as your journey continues.
